Who we
are and What we do?
7
Valley Plantcycle is your local Yahoo! group here in Central New
York.
Our purpose in life is to give and to get
plants/seeds from local residents. We are a place where you can
exchange seeds that you may have for others that you may want. We
hold Many Plant & Seed swaps throughout the season to get people into the garden
fever. We also hold different contests throughout the year where you can
win real prizes, and they are based on different criteria each time.
Some may be for the best story, others may be for the best pictures,
and many other items that are important to our group.
Everything posted to the group must meet
certain criteria as well. First and foremost, as a member of the
Re-Use-It Network, it must be offered either as free,
as a swap, or as a SASE offer. We stringently moderate every post to
the group to make sure that each post meets these minimal guidelines.
If something seems “Too Good To Be
True”, we will either disallow the post, or make the person
making the post, verify that it is real. We are all dedicated
gardeners! Whether it be a home garden or a community garden, or for
commerce, we hold these basics very close to the heart. We have many
seasoned gardeners in our group, that are willing to share the wealth of
our own knowledge with anyone needing to know what we have done and are
doing,to be successful in our enterprises. We will
also share our failures.
The best part of the group other than the seed
trains, and seed/plant trades & swaps, is our willingness to do
everything possible to help the new members grow plants successfully.
Those that offer plants for sale in the spring, such as myself, only
can do so at their own locations, and not post those on our site.
The sole rulers of this site are David
Moffitt - founder(myself), and Cherrie Brunner the moderators.
We both take gardening to the extremes, and are
very adamant that the rules are followed as stated. We also require people to be nice to each other, and be honest.
About me:
I run East End Veggies and Herbs, and run a
front yard stand from my home, that caters to many different folks.
I have customers that run everywhere from the home cook to the M&D
Deli on Central Ave. I grow marketable Organic Vegetables and Herbs.
About Cherrie:
Cherrie is my hero! She not only runs our sister
group based in Syracuse, she takes care of the plantings and plants
for most of that areas parks. She is an avid gardener, and is real
big in promoting community gardening and sustainable living for that
area.
Together:
Our goal is to take what she has already done
to our North, and bring it closer to home here in the lower Central
NY area, Why? Because even though Syracuse is close, she is closer
to the Northern side, and gas prices are unstable. I created this
group as the little sister, to replicate what she has been doing for
a very long time.
